IBM Leads Server Market in India: IDC
IBM has achieved the number one position in the overall server market in India, for the year 2004, as per IDC's Asia/Pacific quarterly enterprise server tracker, Q4 2004.
Aman Muglani, head, computing products & channels research, IDC, said, "IBM's ability to sustain its leadership position can be attributed largely to its strong focus on volume server market and key competitive win backs. Pioneering efforts in leading technologies like blades and dedicated marketing focus on the SMB segments, have definitely contributed to the annual revenue growth."

A 20 percent year-on-year growth in IBM's x86 server revenues increased the revenue market-share difference between IBM and its nearest competitor to 6.8 points in 2004.
Alok Ohrie, VP, systems & technology group, IBM India, said, "IBM's continued strong performance in the Indian market indicates that we have the right strategy at the right time as we help our clients with the right systems solutions for their business demands.
"It is a market verdict in favor of our technology leadership, proven price/performance superiority, and our ability to deliver solutions for the high end as well as for the small & medium businesses. We intend to further consolidate our market share this year and extend our business focus to offer solutions for the Government, Telecom, and FSS segments," he added.
